Construction has restarted to create The Hotel Ilha Do Sol Palace, the project began in 2019 but was postponed due to the covid epidemic. The CV government passed resolution No. 33/2025 on May 16th 2025, to recommence the construction, which is due to take three years from this date.
It will involve the construction, in an area of 74,845 square meters, of a “superior five-star hotel-resort” with 570 rooms (1,388 beds), also featuring seven restaurants, five bars, leisure and entertainment areas, swimming pools, a spa, and other support facilities.
The investment contract with the Government of Cape Verde – which declared the project as being of “exceptional interest” within the framework of its commitment to developing the tourism sector and which provides tax incentives to the promoters – “will be managed by a renowned international hotel chain”.
“In addition to introducing a new brand, the project will contribute to the diversification of tour operators in the distribution of Cape Verde destinations, which represents significant added value.”

Work continues at pace to bring this brand-new hotel to fruition, whilst trying to minimise disruption to the neighbouring resort of Tortuga.

We will keep you posted on the development as we find out more!
